Rwandan genocide survivor completes surgery at Ellis
Wednesday, August 1, 2018
"My story is about forgiveness. Forgiving is a process … but it's not the job of the world to forgive someone. It's up to us individually."
Read the remarkable story of Rwandan genocide survivor Yannick Kabuguza, and his circuitous trip from Africa to Schenectady, NY, where he received care this week -- more than 20 years after a brutal machete attack. It’s also a story of people he met by chance along the way, including Dr. Fox of Fox & Schingo Plastic Surgery in Schenectady and the staff at Schenectady Anesthesia Associates, who all provided care at no cost.
"I hope everyone can forgive," Kabuguza said. "That's my message."
