Before Your Baby Basics Program

of the program are to decrease the incidence of premature births and reports to
the child abuse hotline. Many patients often lack health insurance for the
hospital stay and the staff makes every effort to assist the woman in obtaining
insurance for her and her infant.
The program
also has a free 9-week specialized curriculum on childbirth preparation, infant
care and Lamaze. These sessions are held in the evening and participants receive
a free dinner as well. Women who attend all 9 sessions receive a gift
certificate at a "graduation" ceremony as an incentive.
Pre-Admission Planning for Adoption
sensitive
orientation for birth parents and adoptive couples planning for adoption
following delivery at Bellevue. Birth parents and potential adoptive couples are
invited to the hospital prior to delivery to review procedures, articulate their
wishes for the infant and prepare for the birth and eventual adoption
